Medicines Management Guidelinesinsulin_vial

At Apsley Surgery we abide by guidelines set out by NHS Stoke-on-Trent, which is our local Primary Care Trust. From time to time your medication might need altering to the same drug with a different name due to licensing issues and also to be more cost effective with the NHS resources. A common fear for patients is that medication may be altered simply because of cost implications and whilst this it partly true we would ask patients to consider a situation with weekly shopping where the same product can be purchased from several supermarkets at several different prices. We all have to act responsibly within the terms of the National Health Service and by looking practically at cost implications we could advantage patients who could possibly be denied treatment elsewhere.

Please speak to you GP with any concerns.

Wasting Medication

Did you know that 4.5 million pounds of medication was wasted across the North Staffs and Stoke-on-Trent area in the last year. I think you will agree that this a truly outstanding figure. Please biew the slide show below to find ways that we can all help make sure that medication is not wasted and used effectively.
